The number 1 article is the Wikipedia page on the Liesbeek avaialble here

Not much substance to it but the beauty of the Wikipedia is that anyone at all may contribute. So check that page today and check it again in a week – I will be making a contribution to that page. Feel free to make a contribution of your own.

Otter Spotter has been launched. Otter Spotter is the start of our campaign to get you, the interested Friend of the Liesbeek involved with documenting the flora and fauna of the reaches of the Liesbeek River.

The Cape Clawless Otter still lives in the Liesbeek River, and we want to know if you have seen one. There are also porcupines, crabs, frogs, snakes lurking in the bush.

We are interested in any sightings – if you have a photograph even better.

Our new interactive website

Monday, June 4th, 2007

I have moved this website from the dark ages of static content to a site with dynamic content and certain interactive features.

For those interested I have chosen a CMS (content management system) called FlatPress for its light backend, ease of use, and its use of text files rather than a database (as our host does not offer us a database).

The stories are categorized and you can view them according to category. To get back to the main page just click on our logo at the top.

Please leave a comment and let us know what you think!

Sunday, June 3rd, 2007

Dear Members and Friends

In the last newsletter I wrote about the excellent work being by the Bishopscourt Ratepayers’ Association, and the neighbours in the vicinity of Noreen Avenue Newlands, and Dr Joan Parker in particular. The broadwalk was officially opening on 1st March by Mayor Helen Zille. It was a fitting occasion and a celebration of a completed project.
